Is that why cats want to be there whenever you’re using the bathroom? They’re doing their duty of protecting you

This is unironically the case. Cats consider you part of the pack and want to be on the lookout when you’re in a vulnerable position. If they’ve bonded with you, at least.

Yeah that’s why she has a bowl filled with fresh filtered water. This cat spends all night scrapping with street cats then demands that tap water straight out the streets. None of that bitch ass frufru filtered water.

Have you tried a fountain? My male cat drinks a lot more with it.

Our female cat prefers a large bowl though. So there’s no rhyme or reason to what cats like.

Yeah I tried the fountain but she just plays with it and won’t drink from it getting water everywhere. She will drink the bowl water if necessary but def prefers the sink in the bathroom.

My cat would only drink from the tap, but very little. No other tricks would work. I started adding water to his wet food for fear of his kidneys not lasting. Would recommend. I know my cat gets recommended amount of water without needing any water bowls (though I still keep a few around).
