We have been seeing a big influx of memes and non Pic posts. This is a reminder that this community is meant for Pics which is just that - pictures taken with a camera. Any non Pic posts will be taken down and frequent infracture of that rule will lead to a temp ban.
We have also been seeing an uptick on Violent posts and manifestos. This is not the community for this type of post. No violent, NSFW posts are allowed. These will lead to an immediate temp ban. I understand with tensions today that people are rightfully upset about society, but there are other communities that allow such posts.

Picture doesn’t mean photograph. The word picture predates the invention of the camera. That’s why the word photograph was created in the first place, to differentiate it from other types of pictures. A photo is what comes from a camera, a picture basically means any kind of image. An image of JUST text probably doesn’t qualify as a picture, but pretty much every other image does.
If a person wants to just see photographs then I’m sure there are plenty of c/photos communities for that.
But with that said, this community isn’t c/memes or c/socialposts either, so a nuanced bit of a moderation hand could certainly be warranted.
And with that also said, moderators can do whatever they want with their own communities. So if you wanted to limit it to like just text posts instead of any pics then that would be up to you to decide too

No need for the pedantry. But yes this is very much needed. This community has been a bit chaotic recently.
It’s not pedantry, it’s a massive difference in moderation direction from what you said.
I only view my main feed so i don’t pay attention to what post is in what community, but i believe you that a new moderation direction may be needed. But it also sounds like you’re talking about trying to steer it into an extremely narrow alley which isn’t valid to the title of the community. c/photos is for only photographs, but c/pics means it’s for way more than just photos.
You have the ability to restrict it to just photos of feet if you wanted to, but imo that also wouldn’t be valid.

IRL, a picture doesn’t have to be a photograph. But see Rule 3? Any time you go to the Sidebar to create a post, there it is looking right at you. Here, I’ve copied and pasted it for you.

Well sure, a moderator can write whatever they want in the sidebar, that doesn’t mean it makes any sense. If you like you can create a c/catpics and then put a rule in the sidebar saying we allow all content except for pictures of cats. Just because you CAN do that doesn’t mean it makes sense to
Dude it’s the rules. If you don’t like them, make your own community. If you want them to be changed, be forthright about it and maybe make a meta discussion about it once to get a feel for it.

You clearly didn’t read what i wrote. I said multiple times almost exactly what you just wrote.
Your first comment went way into the weeds of specific rule applications. But the rules are vague because a lot of Lemmy is based on the spirit of the rules and not the exact language, specifically so that we can be more tolerant and lenient.
And in your second post you were implying the rules of this community don’t make sense. I told you it’s the rules, and if they don’t make sense to you you are free to make your own community.
You told me I didn’t read your comments but you also told me that you said exactly what I said. Either that’s wrong, or there’s no reason for that comment.
I would be more chill about this but the whole thread is littered with underhanded attacks against the mods and this community and I question your motives.
