I’m not convinced that there might not be more robots now than humans.
If its dealers choice there are almost certainly more robots than humans. Every washing machine, dishwasher, automatic garage door opener, and grill with an automatic rotisserie could be considered a robot, as they automate labor.
The definition I go by:
A robot is any machine that can manipulate or interact with the physical world.
A stricter definition could include “senses” and “decisions”, but it doesn’t need to be AI. It doesn’t even need to be electronic at all.

Automotive industry uses lots of robots. There’s little manual work in the production of cars nowadays. I would guesstimate there are hundreds of thousands of robots.
