    You do all that?

I do. One of our friends is part of a group that makes sure a maga shithead representative never gets to enjoy a night out. Another friend is going door to door to talk to people and make sure they know what’s going on - and I can say several maga flags have come down as a result. Another friend was able to take an opportunity to get out of the country (she’s trans) and is trying to get involved with the support network there for others in a similar situation. My neighbors are Indian, and are helping out others who are heading back by helping store their belongings as they try and get to safety before ICE does make it nearby.

Than you, and you personally only may have my sencire apologies and the world of admiration. And I’m sorry that it is happening to you.

Here’s the thing - as I mentioned above, a lot of people are doing things. I can’t travel far without pain, so getting to DC or something to protest is a non-starter. I can’t even make it to the larger protests in my state because they are mostly pretty far, longer than I can drive. We have two small kids, so either me or my wife have to stay home.

Others dont even have that option. They may only talk to friends and family about the issues going on to try and get them to see the truth. Or maybe they make phone calls to representatives. Or they send emails. Or maybe they are burnt out completely and need a break to stay functional.

The point is - how much someone is doing doesn’t matter. You have no idea how much or how little anyone is doing. Someone who works from home and makes good enough money to spend time on other activities (like me) isnt doing more, IMO, than the person who works three jobs just to get by and shows up to one protest a month that happens to coincide with their day off.

I’ll judge you colectively by the outcome.

And so you’ve already judged me and that person spending their one day not working as being part of the problem.

Do you see why I take issue with such a divisive comment?

Nothing I have done has stopped Trump. And I’ll be candid, I really dont believe anything I do can stop Trump. I don’t have that kind of money, access, power, whatever to create that kind of change. That, by itself, is a depressing and demoralizing reality.

If trump died today, it wouldn’t be a sing of relife for me. It would be prove that you collectively broken your system so much that only thing that can stop tyrant in charge is time.

When enough people are in a position of power to prevent what should not be happening in the first place - absolutely. There are mechanisms to stop this, built on the idea that the people in office would represent their constituents, that they would not take such blatant (and frankly criminal) advantage of their positions to be so heinous and downright evil. This isnt the system being broken by new changes so much as it just not being good enough from the start to prevent it.

Posting “what else is new” memes is not resistence. Its rolling over.

Its also a way for someone to let off a little bit of steam, given the downright depressing reality bearing down on Americans who did not want this.

I guess the short version of all that is - its about as helpful as your comment painting every American as being supportive of this just because its continuing.

Most of us hate this. Most of us have absolutely no way to stop it, either.
