Donald Trump’s desire to annex Greenland will not be thwarted and there could be meaningful U.S. action related to the Arctic island within “weeks or months,” according to a senior administration official.

That’s the view of Thomas Dans, Trump’s Arctic commissioner. He’s regarded as one of the main proponents of the president’s interest in Greenland, an idea first brought to Trump by billionaire and former diplomat Ronald Lauder.

Dans has been working on the issue since 2020.

Going to reiterate this: The US taking Greenland is how WW3 starts.

Either NATO bites it’s tongue and does a Chamberlain to try prepare for Trump invading Canada/Iceland or they trigger A5 and we’re at war. Russia will take advantage of this and Europe gets spit roasted.

    Good luck, everyone.

Nah I’m betting NATO does jack all and continues to be subservient to the USA.

It’s like watching a “how much can they get away with” show with no practical limit.

A much easier way to start WW3 would be for a sizable country to copy the US, like China taking Taiwan.

The reason is that the US itself has to be on board with an opponent that threatens to do the same thing, meaning they’ll lose “territory”.

I don’t think that will be the case. Consider:

Trump has demanded another NATO territory (Canada) or perhaps if he doesn’t think he could get away with that he could start to demand Iceland. With Trump, it looks like it will be the case of “give a mouse a cookie”.

And rNATO has made it clear that they do not want America taking Greenland, it’s one of the things they are actually standing up to America on. So the question remains: Appeasement to buy time (The Chamberlain Strategy) or send in the Troops to fight the yanks.

I thought Russia had already fucked itself in Ukraine? If it has such military might why is it not winning there?

Ukraine is standing because of NATO support. If NATO support is stretched or moved elsewhere (like an actual NATO territory), then Russia could just go “fuck it”, leave a token force down there and go for the Baltics.

They let Germany have Poland. I wouldn’t be surprised if they let him take it. Only when he tries invading Canada will the rest of the world do something.

They very much did not let Germany have Poland. That is generally considered to be the first day of the first second world war.

They let Germany have Czechoslovakia, and Chamberlain only really did that because he knew that if he didn’t, Britain wouldn’t have time to prepare.
