So what? Lots of people do that. Do you think any named building on any campus has that name as a tribute?

No, somebody donated a bunch of money to that university, hospital, museum, etc. to build a building, with the specific stipulation that it will have their name on the front. If the answer is No, they’ll just offer their donation to the next college. Someone will take them up on it.

There’s even a difference between someone paying to have their name on a new building and someone renaming something that already exists though.

Same in sports where a stadium has always been known by a name then it changes for sponsorship reason, it just doesn’t feel right. If the sponsor’s name was attached from opening then it’s fine.

Valid. Ill take it one step farther, and say that Trump’s actions were worse than even changing the name. The Kennedy Center is a tribute to Kennedy in the same way as the Lincoln Memorial or the Washington Monument. Making it the Trump-Lincoln Memorial or the Trump-Washington Monument would be a ludicrous idea, so why is making it the Trump-Kennedy Center acceptable?

My point is that rich people pay to put their own names on stuff all the time. They clearly see that issue differently. They aren’t waiting around for someome to honor them, they are proactive, and honor themselves.

Yes. That’s what this post was about. I guess a more pointed question is “what did your comment contribute to the conversation?”.

Anyone honouring themselves is cringe. It’s like putting your own name forward for an award. If someone doesn’t do it for you, you’re not a winner
