Yeah. For all of Trump’s Trumpiness, at least he’s direct. There’s no euphamism: he stated he’s running Venezuela, at least 3 times just in case it wasn’t clear. He wants the “right” kind of ruler to take over. He reiterated that US oil companies are coming in to rebuild their infrastructure, repeatedly. He cited the Monroe doctrine.
There’s no pretense.
I think this (frankly) refreshing bluntness is what makes the bits of disinformation so effective.
I remember Trump’s first campaign ad where he said he was going to “bomb Iran and take their oil.” To the best of my memory, those were the exact words. And things like that are why I will never forgive anyone who “didn’t know what they were voting for.” He was very clear from the beginning on what he was about.
He’s a hawk that’s going to take on Iran and cartels better than past presidents.
He’s American First, putting a stop all these immigrants and foreign wars.
He’s a staunch Christian who will protect Christian values and Israel.
He’s a man’s man, a ladies man, and will take on the Jew pedo conspiracy.
He’s a culture warrior. A president who will bring unity. Pro-business, a megacorp fighter. A small town advocate, and pro crypto, pro tech technocratic libertarian. A strongman who will purge despotic liberals
Basically, voters all got their own personalized version of Trump, and they still kinda get it in their news feeds. So they are getting what they voted for… through a small, warped selectively sliced vision of reality. And Trump’s “condo salesman” style plays into this social media typhoon really, really well.
I don’t understand how after listening to him talk you can think “yes the us is running Venezuela now”
A president has attacked a sovereign nation with no authorization from Congress, kidnapped its head of state for no other reason than “making money from oil” and uhh drugs I guess. But legitimacy of the whole thing aside, do you think he’s competent enough to “run” a whole other country?
And how do you imagine the average Venezuelan is taking this? “Oh welp guess we are ‘run’ by the Americans now, better go apply for a job at Exxon”
I watched the whole thing.

He’s pitching US hegemony instead of a condo in his new residential complex (construction permit pending approval)

Friend, don’t shoot the messenger. I am just paraphrasing what he said in the speech.
