Hong Kong’s biggest pro-democracy party voted Sunday to dissolve after more than 30 years of activism, marking the end of an era of the Chinese semiautonomous city ‘s once-diverse political landscape.
Democratic Party chairperson Lo Kin-hei said the political environment was “one important point” among the factors they considered, and about 97% of members’ ballots were in support of its liquidation. He said it is the best way forward for its members.
Party veterans had earlier told The Associated Press that some members were warned of consequences if the party didn’t shut down.

It’s unfortunately a necessary step to protect Mao’s People’s Revolution. At least they are free from the evils of capitalism in Hong Kong now, and part of a shining example to the rest of the world what happens when the workers rise up and throw off their chains.
Lolz you think there isn’t capitalism in China? Like, really? Explain what I’m missing please
You’re missing the sarcasm.
I guess we all did
Workers throwing off their chains of the right to vote?
They are free to vote for any candidate in the Party so long as that person is approved.
…but not for a different party? That kinda defeats the purpose of voting imo
This has nothing to do with the cold war capitalism-communism divide. That world no longer exists
