- There’s the future we all need

- I havent seen it
- For anyone else curious, here’s the commercial in question.
- Imagine having an ideology thats based on a yoghurt commercial - we envision the future through fiction, art, and in this case, animation. - would you prefer a future imagined on extrapolating our oligarchy of billionaires? - Ask yourself. - Nothing wrong with enjoying art and media that envisions a future, but when you look at the art and go “hmm i’m gonna make this my ideology, my political identity” with no (or very little) research/analysis on what we currently have, what needs changing, how this change would be achieved etc, then don’t be surprised when some people don’t take it seriously. - So because we can’t immediately fix our world, we should abandon all hopes and dreams of a better future? - If people want to envision a future for mankind that is a bit farfetched, what’s the harm? Let it inspire people to make the world a better place. Better than being a cynical prick who scoffs at any sort of positive ideology. - If that’s the conclusion you’re taking from me saying “maybe adopting your political views and ideology from a couple of drawings and a commercial is silly”, then you’re absolutely correct. After all, there’s either solarpunk or doomerism - nothing in between, no alternatives, just those two options. - My god, I doubt that even the artists who draw solarpunk take the movement seriously enough to go for such bad faith leaps of logic as you. - Maybe enjoying a depiction that vaguely resembles a future you’d like to achieve that maybe kind of aligns with your beliefs isn’t the same as inventing a belief whole cloth and making it your entire personality based on an image. - Maybe the second one pretty much never happens and you’re attacking something that isn’t even real. - Maybe you’re the dumbass

- but when you look at the art and go “hmm i’m gonna make this my ideology, my political identity” - lol sure thing communism. how’s that working out for you? - I’m not surprised you don’t take it seriously AT ALL.
- Username checks out

- Imagine thinking people want solarpunk because of this ad, and not realizing that this ad was made because people already want solarpunk - Yeah, solarpunk predates the ad, that is very true. It’s still funny that so much of the modern solarpunk ad is based on the advert

- Imagine having an ideology based on slavery, hate and oppression.
- My response to the meme was “some college drop out got super duper high after halfway understanding an economics textbook.”
