Good meme, but Bat Facts™️ time! Unlike birds, bats cannot take off to fly from the ground. If you see one like this, they could be injured or just stuck.

If you see a bat on the ground like this, call your local wildlife rescue for instructions. They may have you try to transport the bat in a cardboard box to their location, or possibly put it on a nearby tree.

They could also be rabid. Rabies can cause bats to wander out in the open where you wouldn’t normally expect to see one. Approaching a bat in a situation like this not a great idea. A call to wildlife rescue is a good idea in any case.

Yeah, absolutely never touch a bat under any circumstances unless you are a professional, or a professional tells you it’s okay. Many times their teeth are so small you might not even know you’ve been bit.

Besides rabies, bats are a vector for a ton of other diseases.

I’ve seen a video about rabies and now I’m horrified. It’s the reason they stopped a bat cave at my local zoo. Granted you were allowed to wander between the bats but even after they closed it off the risks were too high for caretakers.
