minus-square14th_cylon@lemmy.ziplinkfedilinkarrow-up1·edit-29 hours agoone billion kilograms has the same problem - it is ambiguous, because you have to guess whether you are using short or long scale. you could say million tonnes, but ton is not SI unit and is again ambiguous, because there is many different tonnes. correct presentation that isn’t open to interpretation is 1 x 109 kilograms.
