like what was the tech that caused such a leap? They talk about how they switched up the x3D cache configuration - it used to be stacked above the main part of the chip with some sort of insulation in between, but they found a way to remove the insulation and put the 3D cache on the underside of the chip. I’m no expert and i watched the video yesterday, so sorry if that explanation isn’t clear. Effectively, they found a way to bring the 3D cache “closer” to the cores, which shortens the time it takes for the cores to communicate with the cache.

I didn’t know about this! It’s definitely interesting as a survey of queer folks, but given how few respondents were cis, definitely seems like the census is reaching a specific crowd.

There are good people everywhere in the state, but there are some real bigots in the furthest places. Let’s not forget the COVID-19 protests at the governors mansion, or COVID-19 survey workers facing intimidation and racism.

This is why I’m Vote Blue No Matter who since 2016. I’m privileged to be white and cis and all that, and sometimes I am tempted to withhold my vote or vote third party because the Dems frequently piss me off with how they drop the ball. But I learned in 2016 how absolutely terrifying a Republican presidency can be for my trans and nonwhite friends, and that matters to me more than almost anything.

I can’t speak to your modem situation exactly, but I believe you only need the newer modem if you are actually getting that bandwidth from your provider. If you are pretty well below the 3.0 ceiling, I think you’re probably just fine.

Re: the router: a newer one can be helpful if you are having issues with wireless devices farther from the router losing connection. If you have a big house, you would be better off with mesh. If you have a small house or apartment, a new Wifi 6 router would solve that problem for you. And most importantly: if you aren’t experiencing any obvious issues with your wifi, it probably isn’t worth the price of an upgrade.

Sorry to all the trans people in Alabama, this is horrific. Just a reminder, there’s a reason Alabama always ranks at the bottom of every state ranking list - it’s because the state govenrnment is a dysfunctional trainwreck made up of Republicans that ran on a platform of discrimination. They spend all their time defending discrimination rather than actually trying to serve their citizens.

If you want to escape your shithole state, Minnesota is a trans refuge state and we love our trans folks in the Twin Cities! There are certainly some Minnesotans in rural areas that would fit right in in Alabama, but you will never see them unless you go looking for them.
