  • The predictable result of a “kingdom” ruled by an overgrown baby, who got put into power because it benefits other countries who need the oil to keep flowing. All the consulting and contracting dollars made along the way are a huge plus for those other countries duping the baby king. They’ve been duped by consultants for decades on idiotic projects like crop circles which suck up huge amounts of water to produce food at a higher price than they could get it imported using the very limited water which will not be replenished. They were sold on the idea of food independence, but it’s idiotic to tap into those reserves when you can import the food for cheaper. Keep the reserve in case food imports jump up in price! Now they’ve used up much of those reserves and won’t have it available for such an emergency, but the king of the time trusted the American consultants and enjoyed fluff pieces printed in American newspapers talking about how he’s such a visionary (sound familiar?) for pursuing this.

When the oil money runs out, they’ll be back to fighting over dunes of sand. It’s a damn shame because that money could’ve done so much good, but instead it went into feeding the egos of a bunch of “princes”.

  • I agree that, on a surface level, the justification seems reasonable, but it falls flat in the face of reality. The existence of israel actually makes it less safe for Jews around the world because the horrific actions of israel are incorrectly conflated as being the will of all Jews. Additionally, it’s a terrible idea to concentrate as many Jews as possible into a single small country. That only makes them more vulnerable. With how many enemies the israelis are making through their actions, the second they don’t have the backing of the most powerful military in the world, they’re open to attack. They’re relying on always being defended no matter what they do and they use it as a license to carry out the most horrific acts, including genocide. It’s not sustainable and it should not be excused or tolerated.

  • Yep, the trade war that trump carried out with China in his first term led to China buying a lot fewer soybeans from the US, instead turning to Brazil (now even more with the second trade war). Since this time his trade war isn’t limited to China, many more countries are finding alternatives. It’s much harder to gain business than it is to retain it and even harder to regain business when lost.

US corporations were happy to support trump because he’d cut taxes and regulations on them, but that won’t outweigh all the business lost internationally. Instead US corporations will be relying on squeezing Americans even harder in an attempt to make up for that lost business. I suppose that’s the true meaning of “America first”.
