You’d probably want to put it somewhere it isn’t going to get moved a lot. There are concrete additives you can mix in to help with the strength of the finished material as well.

I also figured that if you made your QR code so that the black sections were slightly raised, making it a working QR code could be as easy as dipping it in white paint, letting it dry, then painting the tops of the raised sections black.

I thought about this a little bit, and there’s an interesting possibility here. If you make a mold, you may be able to cast a QR code in concrete. If poured well and stored in a place that isn’t completely hostile, it should last as long as you need it.

I actually think there’s two facets at play here. There’s the first dimension, the durability of the medium itself against the environment, which is what you’re asking about. The second dimension is redundancy. It’s all well and good if you invest in aluminum but something heavy gets dropped on your plate and the singular copy is damaged beyond recovery. Worth considering that if this information is important enough to etch in metal, you should make several copies across a few different storage mediums in a handful of physical locations. A safe deposit box may not be a bad idea, for example.

Depends what their level of technical comfort is. A friend of mine just got switched over to Kubuntu because it was Windows flavored enough for him to make the jump. He’s more comfortable with tech but wasn’t a Linux daily driver prior to that though.

For others, yeah, Mint is probably what I’d aim for. It kinda depends on the target demographic.

One of the things that made our prison system make sense as a machine for me was the explicit carve out in the 13th Amendment:

Emphasis mine. If you’re on the outside looking in, and you don’t understand why the US prison/LE system is the way that it is, it’s because we never actually abolished slavery. We just gave it justification and some window dressing.

And to be clear, I don’t agree with any of it. But it is a thing that bears mentioning in the context of law and justice in the US.

I have a Qidi XMax 3 and that machine has been extremely dependable. It’s the first one I’ve ever had where I start a print and walk away.

I’ll jump back over to Reddit on occasion if I need to look something up. The adverts are super jarring.

I love my Qidi XMax 3. I’ve basically only needed to change my z offset a handful of times and it just slams out prints. It’s got a slightly larger build volume and runs Klipper out of the box.

Could be an option worth considering if you’re looking for a printer that you can set up and run and don’t need anything particularly fancy that just kinda goes.

400 is crazy for residential service! That actually sounds awesome.

Over here, you’ll find a pot of water on the stove more common. Our regular outlets are 120v, but our stoves are typically 240v. A water kettle here would be about half as fast as our stoves (generally speaking). Over there, yeah, with 240 being the standard, a kettle makes a lot of sense.

My understanding is that it’s primarily for people that want to unplug from the internet, mostly.

I picked up a Fairphone 6, and I quite like it, if you wanted another alternative to consider.

My X Max 3 kicks ass. My Ender 3 v3 SE was awful.
