AFAIK he always claimed to be a centrist until a few days ago. I don’t think he exactly endorsed Bernie, but he’s said very nice things about him and his policies.

… women forcing their way into women only spaces is misogynist.
Smh. You’re not even denying that they’re women, you just don’t like them
This decision is made for most people by the electrician who wired the house. This seems like as decent a hypothesis as any for why they seem to prefer washers to the left
Metal. A lot of people kinda freak out when they hear you like metal of any kind. And not in a good way.
Yikes. We’re all thinking about how covid disproportionately affects the elderly, but it also disproportionately affects people who live in denser population centers.
I don’t like talking about pandemics in terms of which political party they help, but I guess the dems may have been hit harder in the end…
For conversation about various subjects with broad appeal and a left wing slant, sure.
For tech support or info on niche topics, not at all. Lemmy is not big enough, old enough, or easily indexed by search engines.
The porn is also pretty mid tbh
You’re not going to hear from men who actually do this because they don’t have a good reason and aren’t typically comfortable with the kind of introspection the question demands.
Some people are exclusionary pricks who look for excuses to judge others. They don’t have or need a reason. It’s bullying.
The bottom arrow is, definitionally, pointing left.
If I ask you to turn around to the right, are you going to ask me what side of you I’m referencing?
No, because humans have a pretty clear forward direction. Screws don’t. You say turn a screw to the right, do you mean make the top of the screw move right or the bottom move right?
Most people assume the top, but not all, and the language is ambiguous.
If you’re looking head on to the screw/nut/whatever then we’re talking about the top of the screw/but/whatever.
You can also imagine if the nut was actually a wheel. Which way would you spin it to make it roll left or right.
Confused the hell out of me at a young age. That’s how I came around to thinking of it
It is very much state pride as well, and force of habit; most Americans don’t travel out of country much (for a few reasons) so we don’t often have to tell people where we’re from who don’t already have a good grasp of American geography.
Also, frankly, people can usually tell we’re American before we tell them, for better or worse. Might as well give you a bit more specificity.
You could probably sell Americans on lowering the drinking age in many States, but there’s some big legal hurdles and pretty much everyone agrees we’ve got bigger problems to deal with first.
It’s typically both. So little chlorine you won’t notice unless you have a particular condition like op or you’re doing something weird like growing algae. You can also just leave a glass of water out for a while and the chlorine will evaporate out of it.
Calling yourself Americans, after the entire dual continent
This is one (small) reason why many USAians will tell you their state if you ask where they’re from.
Does up=off for British light switches? That’s unhinged
Also, never gonna apologize for omitting pointless, silent letters from words. If the English wanted to maintain control of their language, they shouldn’t have colonized half the world.
Yeah. No.
As much as science knows anything, it knows that having too much body fat is bad for your health. Even the article you just linked states weight loss as its goal.
BMI is a crappy measure of body fat, fair; bodybuilders and athletes often have very high BMIs while having very little fat, but it’s not “arbitrary” either. Doesn’t matter much, since we have tools to measure body fat percentage directly. No need to use BMI at all.
Also note that article says to eat less “processed” food, but doesn’t explain what that actually means. Is bread processed? How about a salad? How much dressing do I have to add to lettuce before it counts as “processed”? No answers here.
There’s something to be said for the caloric availability of any given food, but it’s pretty silly to say that you shouldn’t consider them at all. People who are trying to lose weight need some measure of how much they’re eating so they can be sure they’re eating less. Until we have a better one, calories aren’t going anywhere.
As for exercise, it is definitely important, but it simply isn’t realistic to out-train a bad diet. It’s not at all reasonable to say that exercise is more important for weight loss, and anyone who’s actually lost a ton of weight will tell you as much.
An obesity crisis will do that
Southerner here, no cafe or coffee shop would think twice about a black coffee, or cream only with no sugar.
Diners generally only pour the coffee, you fix it up however you want.
Individuals may give you grief of they’re making you coffee in their home, but that’s particular to them.
You’re right about NY, though. Very different vibe.
Yeah, it’s a pretty deep pit of depression. I suspect most people who consider themselves blackpilled are clinically depressed. Not at all useful. But then again, neither is being judgmental of them.
Short of congress changing the law or a successful coup, neither of which are necessarily off the table, yes these next four years will be Trump’s last in office. Who knows what either party will have to offer in 2028.
