It is frustrating to lose your income and coverage, and it is even more frustrating to have to jump through the hoops of hell known as the job market. Full stack is also slightly dangerous since you can silo entire features to a single person. The same can be said to dedicated roles depending on the setup, but the points of failure are much narrower if that one guy wins the lottery or is but by a bus.

I’ve had this happen when using VPN. I also tried disabling ublock, but I get this behavior for 5-10 seconds before the video loads. I get no such behavior on Chrome.

This is probably another attempt at Google degrading the experience for people not using Chrome.

RTO metrics are more often than not about tax breaks, not that your boss wants to hover over you. By coming into the office you have a chance of stimulating the local economy and the government cuts taxes in return, but only if there are metrics showing that a certain percentage of your local staff are coming in. It is all really stupid, antiworker, and driven by money.

I am barely getting away with not returning to the office, but my company is cracking down on it. The moment they take my bonus or otherwise reprimand me is the moment I put in my notice.

It’s all ass backwards because it is cheaper in the short term to pay for cheap labor with low reliability and high availability than for expensive labor with high reliability and medium to low availability. If you take the high availability away from the former you are left with nothing.

In my experience it has been that the company cares about security but they keep hiring the cheapest contractors from India who know nothing about security and they introduce holes faster than onshore developers can fix them.

Either way, you can point to cost cutting as the underlying root cause.

That is what I am hoping/waiting for. I’ve been looking to switch to an EV for a few years now but have been turned off by the price, lack of physical buttons, and poor battery performance in cheaper models. I am praying the redesigned Leaf will clear all 3.

I’ve come to learn that when they say “small government” they don’t mean that what the government touches is small and focused. They mean that the size is physically small but have the same, if not more, power than a large government body.

Basically they want fascism and a monarchy.

They’ll also have their debt grow threefold and say the economy is doing better than ever.

People can change, but don’t put your life on hold waiting for that to happen. I can’t say for sure what kind of person this is since I’ve never met the guy, but I can tell you that you will be waiting a long time if he is behaving how you described. Communication is incredibly important as a foundation for a relationship, and ghosting indicates they won’t be able to discuss things with you when things get really bad. This is a skill that is learned young and it is harder to learn it with age.

Let that flame die out and only let it be reignited if the person makes real effort to really talk to you.
