He’ll be 97 when he gets out, if he lives that long.
Good riddance.

Reminds me of when Russia was using shit like line charges and surface to air missiles to blow up Ukrainian apartment blocks. Profound, idiotic squandering of military materiel not out of tactical necessity, but out of a base, abject hatred of their enemy as a culture and people.
I think the most damaging thing someone could tell Trump is that nobody he’s surrounded himself with actually thinks he’s smart, successful, or charismatic. That they’re lying through their teeth when they say all these great things about him. That they all mock him behind his back, that they think he’s stupid and they’re all looking to use him for their own ends.
We know his narcissism, we know he hangs on the words of the last person he talked to, and best of all, all that is probably far more true than it is false.
He’d be deranged beyond measure, like that methed-up moustache man in Berlin towards the end.
My understanding is that they basically always were. The South has historically refused to purchase learning material that is “too harsh” on them regarding the Civil War, and so the companies making said material, in order to make the most money, have modified the material to suit that customer base for a long time.
It says in the article that the number of American requests are still quite low, and are generally denied anyway. They have to prove that nowhere in the US is safe for them, and the high level position of Canada, for the time being, is that the US is not an unsafe country (otherwise they couldn’t defer other refugees here).
My amateur read would be that Trump is far more useful to Russia alive as the credulous creature he is than dead. Letting Vance carry on the MAGA legacy would be risky for Putin’s ambitions, so long as Trump is handily disrupting any hope of Ukrainian self determination, why rock the boat?
^what the dumber MAGATs are saying out loud, and the smarter MAGATs are thinking but not saying
It’s not just immigrants at this point, he is implying that anyone who isn’t MAGA is outside of tolerable politics (unAmerican) and they deserve to get deported. Fascism.
Being a resident of another country should be enough reason, especially for such a heinous crime. I’d also think being a supposed cyber security expert who attends black hat conferences might know how to evade surveillance and capture better than most.
But the kicker is that he thought Israel will extradite him back here no biggie. What an idiot - and that’s the charitable assumption.
“Thing that everyone said was going to happen happens, but now it’s happened to one of our betters so it’s news.”
Haven’t kids been killing themselves over deepfake porn being passed around school for years?
Military contractor gets a payout from tax dollars, and they stop the woke mob from taking away their gas engines anyway, there is no downside to them.
They still need to form dedicated special operations kill teams for tracking down the higher priority/more violent dissidents.
20 years of counterinsurgency tactics is going to come back home.
You’ve been seeing this from their combat footage for over a year.
Troop movements almost always consist of less than a dozen people, and often less than half a dozen. Even lone troops moving about by foot or on bikes of some variety are seen. When heavy equipment like tanks are employed they are often alone, maybe paired with one or two partners.
You could make the argument that heavy use of unmanned drone and satellite recon makes larger troop buildups risky, but it feels like Ukraine and Russia both are hurting for competent infantry and they simply do not have enough to spread around the front to do any better. Because the way the fighting is happening now kind of flies in the face of modern combined arms doctrine.
You, I, or any other American could have done something at a line in the sand that was crossed in reality (like secret police kidnapping people in broad daylight and shipping them to gulags), rather than imagining we would do something in a hypothetical line in the sand that they may cross at some point. But we didn’t, and the very few of us who did were almost completely impotent.
Texas Rangers could round them all up, kneel them down in the parking lot and execute them with shotguns live on Fox News, and I’d still bet money on nobody actually doing anything about it.
The average person needs to be truly desperate and not just slightly to moderately struggling for that to kick off.
Seems like conservatism is always locked in an inward battle between cynical grift and genuine crazy.
We’ve been down this road with North Korea. If a country’s leadership wants to burn the proverbial furniture and impoverish its people to fuel their war machine, no amount of foreign aid or trade is going to stop the impoverishment, because they will leverage it to offset spending to even more war.
Doesn’t mean shit unless they start a peacekeeping mission there that is willing to shoot at IDF troops.
There is also the slim chance that him worrying causes a cardiovascular event that fucking kills him. Slim, but probably more likely than anyone tangibly holding him to account.
Just world fallacy. There is a very real chance that they will all get away with this. Better odds than not, I’d say.
