Yes, using animals to manipulate people in any way is propaganda and we should attempt to avoid it. Propaganda to make war more acceptable is one of the worst types, regardless of the symbols on their uniform.
I don’t think banning this material is necessary. But let’s not pretend this isn’t obvious war propaganda.
This is at least the third pic of a cat with a good looking woman in (Ukrainian) military uniform I’ve seen in the past few days.
Had this been any other countries uniform I feel like people would have been more sceptical.
Or the hind legs are directly behind the fore legs? So the paws are right next to each other? If it is Photoshop, it is a very phenomenal Photoshop, all the bloom around the fur is really realistic. And how hard would it be to just use a real cat? They aren’t hard to come by.
The cat couldn’t possibly be standing on her shoulder like that. The legs would be suspended in space behind her somehow. And it’s clearly not sitting.
It’s not even a decent photoshop. I don’t care about the bloom around the fur. I care about the ridiculous impossible physics.
E-girls in uniform have been used to promote the IDF, the US armed forces and now Ukraine’s military. I haven’t seen rhe Russians do it but I wouldn’t be surprised if they did. This is a propaganda tactic. I’m sure OP just thought the cat was cute but it is important to know propaganda when you see it.
I don’t think you’re being fair. The person you’re replying to obviously believes that this is being posted to promote the Ukranian military and would react the same to a photo they believe is promoting American police forces. The sweeping statements are the words you’ve put in their mouth. The least we could do is meet their argument on its own terms.
I do find this photo unsettling for basically the same reason you do, but don’t you think there’s an important distinction to be made between promoting an agressor and promoting a defender?
Can we ban this blatant propaganda please?
Because the solder is Ukrainian? Would you ask for it it be banned if it was an American or Russian soldier?
Yes. Associating something cute with war to cover up its horrors it’s propaganda

Still a cute kitty though.
Because it’s photoshopped.
We support Ukraine because they were invaded, not because of this manipulative bullshit.
The cat’s hind legs would be floating in space. This is a fugazi.

Yes, I would. I also would want it banned if it was a US police officer.
That’s quite authoritarian of you.
Imagine not being allowed to post pictures of cats because there’s a police officer is in the picture.
Imagine being a police officer and not being allowed to pose with your cat.
You are sure good at making sweeping statements.

They could take off the uniform, put away the gun, and I’d never know.
I do find this photo unsettling for basically the same reason you do, but don’t you think there’s an important distinction to be made between promoting an agressor and promoting a defender?
I don’t believe in promoting war either way. Especially in a community about cats.
I thought you’d say that, ha. Fair enough.
