So what I’m hearing is, “My wife doesn’t want me to be able to concentrate when I’m in a ‘serious meeting’.” 🙃
Sometimes it makes sense, as “serious people” react badly and they are less likely to be understanding. She’s actually covering up for me not caring about social etiquette even when it would make things significantly easier.
I got’choo, I was just kidding. ✌️
Bloody “serious people”.
Could you get away with having a fidget cube in your lap or (inconspicuously) behind your back? That’s one way I’ve managed to fidget undetected in meetings before haha.
If I don’t have easy access to a fidget, I start tapping my fingers quietly, which rapidly turns into drumming along to the beat of whatever song’s stuck in my head, then I get so into it I forget I’m in a meeting and start tapping LOUDER because brain need more stimulation, until I’m pretty much playing a drum solo on the desk / table.
And then I realize what I’m doing, stop immediately, covertly look around to make sure no one noticed. Then I try to pay attention while sitting still… which lasts like 30 seconds, then I start tapping my fingers again, and the cycle begins again.
Which is a long-winded way of saying those fidgets are for everyone else in the meeting’s benefit, not just mine.
