What I’ve always found interesting, i guess, is that I’m about 40 words per minute on a good day and I’ve been 10 finger typing for 30+ years. I’ve never improved. If anything I’ve gotten worse because of all the mistakes I constantly make.
Two words a second… Yes, that may be adequate. I wonder if I could persuade these bastard fingers of mine to relearn to type fast after so many years of touchscreens.
it’s not easy to (re)learn, but it’s possible. i slowly learned to type with 10 fingers over the course of like the last 6 years, just throwing my head against https://www.keybr.com/ once a year or so. the most difficult part for me was typing with my pinkies, but that only took about two hours of focused practice to start with. as with everything in life, you may get good without focused practice, but practice makes perfect.
i still get about 70wpm just tap typing. i never really got how to do swipe typing fast. i heard apparently some swipe keyboards allow you to mostly just swipe in the direction of a key without actually touching the key and that seems like a big speedup, but i never learned it.
The day I learn to 10 finger type is the day my brain was able to express itself outside my head.
I type around 100-120 words a minute. My brain still has to wait for my fingers, but it’s so much better than writing.

Now with touchscreens, I use swipe typing which dramatically improves your speed. My ADHD brain copes with my slow typing better with it.
I never gave swiping a real try, it always seems like a weird thing to me. Texting on a phone is one of the most frustrating I do these days

With touchscreens I use swipe typing. It’s significantly faster.

I used a ton, but google has been more accurate.
