I have only been maybe 3 times. Driving myself 2 of 3 times qualifies as “usually”. as to why, ambulances are like $3k per trip and I have an inhuman pain tolerance. A 6.5mm kidney stone or a hole from a 16penny nail that through and throughed my foot, if I am conscious, i am not spending $3k on a 30 minute glorified cab ride.
I’ve been in the hospital more times than I can count. But I agree ambulances are bullshit. Last time I took one was because a nurse convinced me it was vital. A agreed and got a cab ride, with my wife following. The only good part was they rolled me from the ambulance directly to my bed.
edit - oh yea, never used an ambulance when younger because i lived two blocks away from the hospital. life was rough back in the days.
Why are you going to the hospital so much and why are you able to drive? If I go to the hospital it is because things went so bad I can’t drive.
You’ve never had an infection which needed treatment, or broken a finger/toe, or needed some stitches?

I live in NZ the ambulance is either free or $99NZ; depending on which city you live in…I still drive myself if I am able.
OK. Makes sense.
