All the talk of identity verification got me thinking about what I’ll actually worry about my kids accessing. Perhaps I’m odd, but sex is normal and porn is just exaggerated sex so I feel like I can make it clear it’s as realistic as Lord of the Rings.
What worries me is the brainrot from getting stuck in a media bubble. We are so incredibly vulnerable to being swayed by both propaganda and fringe thinking these days and it’s only easier to create echo chambers with all the AI content flooding the web now.
What do you think is the most dangerous part of the net for those ignorant of the threats?
I figure at the age you have the talk with them you also need to bring up the topic.
Unless you’re extremely good at controlling your kids access and making them avoid friends whose parents do not, there’s a good chance they’ve already seen it. My wife’s a high school teacher and when a report came out about the average kid having been exposed to porn by 8 they all agreed.
So you’re saying that at 8 you would explain that porn is not realistic and some things should not be done in real life and let them watch it? Just asking out of curiosity. I don’t have kids so I don’t have to make decisions like that.
