The INDX is an extremely fast, highly efficient toolchanger system with up to eight independent toolheads that seamlessly integrates with your CORE One+ 3D printer. Each material gets its own dedicated path, so you can combine rigid and flexible parts, use easy-to-remove or dissolvable supports, switch nozzle sizes in the same print, and print multi-color models without throwing half of the spool to waste.
Maybe as a single unit and not a conversion it’ll be cheaper but right now all in for a Core One+ and 4 head INDX upgrade you’re talking $2k+. A Snapmaker U1 is half that and had a bigger print volume.
I was hoping a Core One with INDX would be reasonable but I have a feeling a U1 is more likely in my future.
Looks like it’s only €230 for 4 heads, and it’s replacing the main tool head is the big cost of €440. And that kinda lines up with what a nextruder costs for the XL.
That’s what I’m saying. The difference between the 4 and the 8 is €230, which means it costs that much for the induction heads. Or about €60 a piece including the rack parts.
There is still a bunch of hardware that goes into the moving tool head/extruders to grab the induction nozzle.
So doing the math here, it’s about €440 for the extruder/electronics, and about €60 per induction nozzle+ housing.
I thought the point of a nozzle changer was to save money compared to a full hotend+extruder changer, because you don’t have to double up as many parts.

This describes all of Prusa for the last 3 years. They’ve definitely lost their edge in the face of modern competitors now that everyone has moved away from bed slingers.

It’s pretty ridiculous to think that a Snapmaker U1 is cheaper than a Prusa MK4S. And for just €50 more than the MK4S you get a full enclosure for the U1.
My plan exactly. I’m not buying anything at that price until the reviews are in. I need what indx represents in my head, but I’m waiting for indications that my headcanon matches reality, both in terms of functionality, ease of use, and quality.
There was discussion about this on “the other site*” when the founder’s kits were released. The basic answer ended up being something like “since the nozzles heads are dumb, you’re still getting the same amount of smart (more expensive) components so there isn’t a lot of cost to save”.

Same, am I still going to buy one after others have been the guinea pigs to work out bugs? Yes, but that’s still a chunk of change.
I think I saw that the add-on nozzles end up being on the cheaper end though. Not sure what my plans are for those yet.
I’ll pick up a core L + INDX at the black Friday sale (assuming it’s discounted, and the reviews are positive)

I will definitely be thinking about it, but I think the benefit is too small for me, especially at those prices…
For real. The cost for 4 toolheads almost makes it not worth getting in light of the cost of 8.
