This is “krill” a 3d printed, handwired 40% keyboard I designed using FreeCAD.
Bottom:
this is sick, share the stls!
Very cool. Im currently learning FreeCAD and this looks really impressive.
I can’t understand how people use 40% keyboard without splitting them though. Seems hard on your wrists.
Impressive! Do you use it for travelling?
Thanks! I use it daily (at work and at home)
is the top case 3D printed too?
from the layer marks on the bottom, it suggests it is (and looks like a 10 or 15 degree angle) but the top is smooth as hell. ABS acetone smoothing?
it looks great!
ps, split space club 😁
yep it is printed. The layer marks are deceiving - there were 4 separate parts printed in different orientations, glued together and post-processing using primer, spray paint and a top coat.
split space ftw! 😆
what kind of paint and top coat are you using? you almost made it look at an aluminum case.
again, looks great!
Haha thanks!
It was Spectrum matte black and matte clear varnish. I think it was about 7 coats color and 2 of the varnish.
