Apart from moral and legal responsibilities to accommodate folks I’ve heard it phrased as “Many people will experience disability in their lifetime, especially as they age.” as a way for people who do not currently experience disability to understand it in the context of their own lives and experiences.
I hate to admit but disability was always abstract to me until I experienced it, but that’s why it’s important to listen to lived experience and seek better for people in general not just ourselves.
