This little guy is feral. I had to squat in the cold for 10 minutes like a wildlife photographer to take this photo. He’s super afraid of people

He left well-fed. He’s visited a few more times since.

There was a cat in my neighborhood who was just as standoffish. We’d been feeding him for a few months and It got too cold even for him one day and he ran in the house and still hasn’t left. He has 3 heating pads just for him and he was sleeping on my head earlier today.

Tell him he’s a very smart cat for figuring it out and coming inside with the warmth, food, litter boxes, and snuggles!!

This made me chuckle! Yep, he lives in a rural area where some folks still have farm animals, so he’s defo got some places he can shelter (including my hallway if he’s brave enough haha)

Keep feeding him and he might get used to you.

Is there a warm nest or box nearby for him? If not, you could try to give him a cozy place to stay warm for the winter.

If you are patients, by next winter he may be used to you enough that he will come indoors. :)

Oh yea, he lives in a rural area so there’s plenty of structures he can sneak into. Lots of sheds and such

He’s friends with a stray that I’ve sort of half-adopted, who sleeps in my hallway sometimes. I’m hoping the two of us can talk him into staying with us every now and then

It took months for one of the local feral cats to warm up to my wife and I. He would run away as soon as he saw us. We call him Bojangles because he’s chicken.

Please make a little shelter for him! Just an old storage bin and some…straw? I think? (as opposed to hay, which gets wet more easily). He’s super cute.
