The endangered status is specifically for wild ones, whose habitats were mostly destroyed.
There’s a lot in captivity though, which is the silver lining. There’s bound to be enough viable ones that the species won’t die off and can always be reintroduced.

The problem is we keep destroying those habitats so it’ll take a lot of work before they can be reintroduced in the future.
