Apparently very little data on this, so I did digging. Nothing worth sharing as a source, just seems most animals may nibble to try and wake a human, and once decay sets in, both may eat since our scents change.
Dogs do seem to guard a body, cats do tend to escape before eating, and neither really wants to be in that situation (I imagine we don’t taste very good).
