When I applied to my current job the commute was a 25 minute bike ride. I don’t mind spending a bit of time commuting by bike as you are getting exercise out of it anyway and the route is generally pretty nice. Office was then moved over 50 miles away, it was ok because we all work remotely anyway.
Now we are getting constant messaging about going into the office on a frequent basis. I would rather cycle for a whole hour than take the train for half. But our new office location is up to 2 hours by train.
The push to the office has pushed me to look at indeed and I found something interesting so have now update my CV too.

The most climate friendly thing the human race could do is have less billionaires, just saying.
Best I can do is record profits and the eventual extinction of humanity

The irony is, it probably would make line go up because people who care would flock to that business, assuming they actually did the thing and weren’t just greenwashing. And assuming they weren’t trying to bend us all over and give it hard without consent over stuff like data mining.
Like, make me a cheap ev, something better for the environment and without all the spyware, and I’ll buy one.
I’d obviously prefer rail, but if I can’t have that at least I want something better… but no I can’t justify it because I have to give up way too much privacy to use the tech, and it’s wildly expensive considering the privacy invasion.
So I just try not to drive now. I leave home, by car, maybe three times a month now. And it kinda sucks but it’s the best I can do.
I know one simple trick to lower their emissions anyway! Of course the price is slightly more emissions while its happening.
