I had just had a friendly and fun dinner with some Cuban VIPs because of a work thing. After dinner I was supposed to take a picture of the US and Cuban group together.

I tried to tell everyone “Say ‘Cheese’” because I knew it would be odd but interesting to the Spanish speakers who were unfamiliar with American ways, but I don’t speak Spanish very well.

I said, “Hablo Queso,” which means ‘I speak cheese.’

That’s not even the funniest part. The purpose of saying cheese is to make the photo subject smile. If they just rolled with queso then they’d be making an o shape with their lips when the photo is snapped.

Exactly. A fail at all levels, but I kind of knew that. It was intended as something funny, but 'I speak cheese" is just weird.

BTW, when I explained they told me the word they use in Cuba to make a smile face. I’ve forgotten it.

Edit: I just remembered, it was Whiskey!
