I’m another maybe-autist. I don’t care at all about babies or whatever, but a vacation might be interesting. Not if their vacation was just to a resort though.

Depends on which kind you’re talking about. Cinnamon raisin breads and similar are sweet because they’re basically deserts (desserts?).
Standard sandwich loaf is sweet because your weak foreign palate cannot handle the background level of high fructose corn syrup in all American food. It gives us the strength and vitality to enforce pax Americana, build our secret space colonies, and invent all new world technology.
I was up to 14 at age 25. When you’re young and inexperienced, any schmuck that will pay you and be slightly less abusive than the last guy is worth working for, and you never owe the last person anything.
“I don’t really get why people get so up in arms about discussing it, but Sex is fun. Be careful though, those swimmers are persistent little fuckers.”
“Drugs feel good and you think everything is fine until one day you look up and realize it all went wrong years ago. I can’t stop you, but I really hope you’ll choose not to try them.”
I think both worked out well. I’m sex positive and I generally avoid drugs because it just isn’t worth the risk of finding that one substance that totally ruins my life.
Many of them, yes. They’re among the most radical of the leftist instances, which means that they attract a lot of propagandists and tankies. They have some perfectly reasonable people too, but you know, vocal minority. Its the main thing most people notice about those instances.
Many people block hexbear, Lemmy.ml, and lemmygrad for these reasons.
What is your budget and needs? Used thinkpads from a certain time period are very hardy, but they’re getting old enough now for performance to be an issue for anything beyond basic web browsing and word processing.
Framework also makes laptops with the explicit goal of being more repairable. Even if you decide not to work on it yourself, it would be trivial for a repair shop to fix most things that could go wrong.
Most of us do. A few people do sign up for variable rate plans, and they did get astronomical bills during the snowpocalypse. IIRC they didn’t get any aid or anything, it was a small enough number of people that they just got hung out to dry.
Nice bar: whatever menu cocktail or specialty product looks good.
Okay bar: Amaro/mezcal if they have it, gin/rum if they don’t.
Not very good bar: beer or cider
Bad bar: bottle beer. No cans, mixers, or taps, and well pours only if truly desperate.
9-5 is definitely no longer standard, although traffic does get noticeably worse here after 8am.
That being said, what is their justification for 7-5? Unless you’re taking a 2 hour unpaid lunch, that’s mandatory overtime, which most companies aren’t super fond of paying.
Unfortunately, cutting drugs with things to make them either cheaper or stronger is pretty common most places, in fact it’s basically universal here. Some weed dealers have relatively uncontaminated stock, but most don’t.
And good fucking luck if you buy any kind of pills or anything.
Not proper cooking to a well temp, but you never really know if proper food safety practices were observed or not.
Disagree with your underlying assertion that students do not read nonfiction books. Your textbooks are nonfiction.
In terms of more “classic” nonfiction materials, j don’t think it’s a very important skill. Something like Anne Frank’s diary or Night can definitely be powerful, but I don’t think reading a secondary source on the American civil war has any more value for a student than a chapter in a textbook.
Isn’t mumble hot garbage? My planet side outfit memes on it whenever it gets brought up.
It’s a percentage because the $60 steak was assumably at a nicer restaurant where you received more in depth service.
Fine dining servers may only have a couple of tables at once, or even for the entire night. You’re paying more for more individual attention.
It also scales in reverse. A server on a shift with a $10 blue plate special will probably have 10 tables before things go off the rails. They’ll also put serious work into getting your ass off that table the minute your plate is clean.
I use a lenovo flip. I love the reversible hinge, but the flip functionality is quite buggy and the build quality is kind of crap.
I’ve been eyeing a framework 13 for years now, but I don’t want to be wasteful by buying a laptop I do not need yet. They look really well supported and easy to work on.
System76 has been a classic for a long time, but I’ve never had the money for one go their units.
I enjoyed it, but not a lot. It very clearly panders to former drama kids and fanfiction.net readers. Overall, I think helluva boss is better.
I’m also not super into musical numbers in general though, which is a big part of the show.
Huh, TIL. Thanks!
People who prefer android because it’s open source usually use open source android because that’s what they want.
That being said, proprietary blobs and black boxes are a pox on basically every usable device these days. I hate it.
SMS piggybacks on existing signals to and from your phone. They are entirely free, and have been in a lot of places for a long time.
You’re getting screwed. At least it’s a good reason for your contacts to switch to signal or simpleX?
A couple of ideas:
Home Ownership. I know condos exist, but it seems to me that we need a solution for home ownership that is accessible and ecologically viable. Traditional houses (and even duplex’s/townhomes) are massively inefficient from a climate perspective, not to mention the space requirements and cost.
Child rearing. In college, I learned that children were typically raised by multiple neighbors, in order to lessen the strain on parents. I think it is unrealistic and unhealthy to expect people to nearly kill themselves attempting to raise a child for the first couple of years.
Recreation space. I realize this is mostly an American thing, but lawns are a colossal waste of space. To be of any use at all, they have to be at least half an acre, and realistically, there’s no reason every single family needs their own outdoor recreation space. Plus, a tiny minority of people even use them these days.
