  • I lived in India(in what at the time, was called Hyderabad) for a while, as a foreign Arab. Most of the curriculum was in English, with both Telugu(the official language) and Hindu language subjects. I hated it.

Coming from an Arab country where the most English we were taught was the ABCs, and then being told I had to juggle 3 entirely new language. I wasn’t even exempt from it. I would alternative from getting 61 out 75 in a hindui exam to falling the class, depending on if the teacher let’s me cheat.

I couldn’t even tell you what letters I was writing, I just drew them as a I saw them. My dad even forced me to watch Hindi cartoons in the hopes I will magically pick it up. For a while, I even had a Telugu teacher teaching me the alphabets. None of it stuck.

Honestly that period of my life was really damaging. I left India with full English and not a hint of Arabic. Coming back to the Arab world, to even get to the point of conversing with people again took years, and I still don’t know how to read or write beyond a first graders level. Reading still gives me a headache.

  • Sure There are for all three but depending on the system that can change too and most of them can be grouped together. If this is something that interests you, i would suggest you pick two systems and try them out. Really thought this is more a manifestation of my anxiety than anything practical, i have been stuck writing and rewriting systems for a week. I still think there is value in making a brief system for one or two parts of your life

    Lab system:

tools and places for messing around; special partitions, virtual machines and new OSs on other ssd

    Library system:

book tracking, review site, forums for discussing/recommendation/book clubs/ebook readers, ways to sync and where to get books

    Cinema system:

where to watch, tracker for show and movies, review site, forums

    Threat level system:

essentially what data you want to protect and from whom and tools you use

    Social system:

what social medias do you use and where do you spend your time, what communities are you looking for online and which are available offline, support systems, both online and offline

    Share system:

tools for sharing stuff and what not to share, collaboration tools

    Legal system:

    content warning for CSAM

was exposed to CSAM for the second in time in my life a few weeks back and decided i need the tools to report it, that’s not really something talked about much when it comes to online safely

    Convince Convenience system: Convince

what changes can you make around you that would cost you a little more (i.e better shaving tools, changing the shower head if its too short, using smaller spoons for measuring) that would make your life easier. Its note really a system, think of it more of a List of proposed changes

    Digital identity system:

most of us use multiple social media accounts and have different identities(i.e what to share) for each one. there is also the question which accounts to link if thats something you want

here is a Template i came up with

    Name System

    -Toolbox

    -Ideas List

-work flow(for something like steps for backups)

-check list(can have recurring task e.g backups)

    -communities

  • I been having the ocds lately. I keep wanting to catalogue everything i have from Digital to Physical

even came up with the idea that everything, objects and actions, can categories into systems:

    Systems

    • File system
    • Partition system
    • Backup system
    • Lab system
    • Task manager system
    • Note taking system
    • Library system
    • Cinema system
    • health system
    • Learning system
    • Contact, calendar, task manager and email system
    • Social system
    • Threat level system
    • Emergency system
    • Contact system
    • Journal system
    • Share system
    • internet data quota management system
    • Paper document management system(and its backup)
    • Home economics system
    • Savings system
    • Research system
    • Browser system
    • App (web vs mobile vs PC) system
    • Archive system
    • Time management system
    • Security system
    • Legal system
    • Safety system
    • Convince system
    • Hygiene system
    • Tool system
    • Digital Storage system
    • Linux system
    • cleaning systems
    • organization system
    • inventory system
    • de-cluttering system
    • digital identity system
    • account system
    • writing system
    • social media posting system
    • review system

And you can further group and fuse systems but keeping a record of your every breath is its own hell.

I never let my drawers get cluttered though, unlike my mom. I even go through it with her to organize and de-clutter(for context: this specific drawer doesn’t contain clothes or her own personal stuff, like screw drivers, hammers, blood glucose meters, first-aid stuff, balance meters etc, making it a mini-storage unit of the house). I even label my own drawers.

  • This question kinda of erks me, cuz this a geographical specific question. Most of the world technological progress was slower than the US and adjacent countries, especially in developing countries, so by the time everyone their internet, we still had those old CRT TV and flat screen were for the ultra rich.

About the looking about stuff, even tho I was born in 2000s, we didn’t have internet/a home PC until 2013, before then you would either ask a teacher or a family member who specialise in that field, if its not your parent first. Contrary to popular, library are not that common outside the US and mainly in Universities. Really, this how most ppl are the world looked up stuff, just us around.
