Would you be interested in contributing a short guide on the setup?
I am not confident enough in my knowledge of TrueNAS apps myself to judge if my setup process is how you’re supposed to do custom apps, tbh, so i’d rather not try to contribute a guide that could potentially have other users run into trouble 😅
I bookmarked this post a few days ago, but only just had the time to set it up today. Installing it as a custom app on TrueNAS was very easy, if only I had known it would just be a 3 minute job :D
I am running TrueNAS as well, and I keep snapshots for about a week. When I set up snapshots, I noticed the same issue as you: On a Linux client there seems to be no convenient way to browse these snapshots using the file manager (like “previous versions” on windows), and the only way I was able to browse snapshots was using ssh into the TrueNAS system.
While inconvenient, I figured that’s good enough for me, I don’t really tend to accidentally delete files off my system and on the rare occasion that I do, I can just use the command line. So far, I didn’t have the need to access an earlier snapshot.
But having a convenient way to browse the snapshots using a webUI is great, Thank you for creating this application, so far it works great as a custom application on TrueNAS, I was able to successfully browse and download files from previous snapshots :)
Some things that can be useful, although I don’t know how easily they can be implemented:

I mean, sure, start out low. In Germany, we already have such a rule, and its 50% (on top of there being an actual need for the clause to be legitimate, company secrets for example. Just because the company fears their customers might move along with their former employee is not a valid reason).
And I believe that percentage, while a start, is way too low. I guess I am looking at it from my local perspective when I think of 90% being the minimum it should be.
I believe the percentage should be no lower than 90%.
A non-compete clause is very valuable for a company, at the detriment of the employee - this needs to be heavily reimbursed.

I was using Fusion360 for quite some time and when I moved to linux, I had to find an alternative.
FreeCAD takes a while to get used to, particularly moving from other CAD software, but with a few tutorials FreeCAD 1.0 onwards is really quite powerful.
Before version 1.0, it was absolutely undecipherable. You can try giving it a shot nowadays, but you’ll have to get used to its workflow, regardless of what CAD software you currently use.
My workflow is:
-Musicbrainz Picard to get all the information from an online database
-clean up the tags with kid3 (Linux), rename files and folders
-use mp3gain to “normalize” all songs to the same level, so I don’t have to constantly adjust the volume.
it might still come to consider it, don’t give up hope, yet.

office package doesnt just come with windows any more
strictly speaking, it never was part of windows, or came bundled with it from Microsoft. Our first family windows computer (Win 98) didn’t come with an office license, instead the manufacturer included only “Word” and “Works” as a “value add”. It was a separate piece of software that we could install (or not if we chose to).
Up to including windows 7, every single computer any of my friends and family purchased came only with a windows license, If they wanted MS Office, they had to buy the license separately and install the software package themselves. Sometimes it might have come preinstalled as a trial, but that still required purchasing a license after a set amount of time (usually 90 days, I believe), and it varied from OEM to OEM, as did their other bloatware (Norton, Eset, etc.).
I have only noticed Windows installing office out of the box with Windows 10/11, where they install the app from the MS store during the initial setup - I assume they started this on Windows 8 as well, but I have only seen PCs being upgraded from 7 to 8/8.1, never a fresh install.
But even then, it’s just a limited trial for their office 365 suite.
I bet they had to pivot to get it down the stairwell.
