Mormon leaders, military veterans and elected officials reacted with anger to a new Department of Defense policy that does not consider The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to be a Christian religion as part of a wider effort to cut down the U.S. military’s list of recognized faiths.

“The Pentagon’s decision to list The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints apart from other Christian faiths is wrong and needs to be corrected,” Republican Rep. Mike Kennedy, of heavily Mormon Utah, wrote on X on Sunday.

There is no way to define Christianity objectively. It’s extremely diverse and pinning down features is theology so your leaving objectivity.

The only thing left is to accept any group that identify as christian.

Yes the Joseph Smith story is colorful, but so is speaking in tongues, believing the earth is six thousands years old, that bread becomes the literal body of God in your mouth or the Trinity. Not all the group that claims to be christians believes all these things but you would recognize most of these as christians.

Oh yeah, all religions are a bunch of nonsensical hogwash, and people who believe in magical dudes in the sky have something broken in their brain for sure.

I was just talking about the opinion one bunch of crazies who tried to brainwash me as a kid had on another, different bunch of brainwashing crazies.
