You can also use a regular old torch for this, but those take up weapon inventory slots, whereas you can carry 999 wood bundles without issues.

Lol I played almost the whole game only using wood! Near end-game my kid pointed out that there was a flame emitter nearby and I was like OMG

How the heck would you attach another balloon, mid-air, whilst still maintaining balance?

It works well with those hovering giant platforms for example - they kind of self-align, so it doesn’t matter much where the balloon is attached and you have plenty of room even for multiple balloons. You would need to go out of your way to topple these things over.

Otherwise, you can use “Rewind” for temporary stability. Since you’re rising slowly anyway with this setup, the height loss from using Rewind isn’t that much ;)

Just do both. Flamethrower for speed, then smack balloon before battery runs out. Wood bundle will keep you afloat while you recharges.

I was staring at this for ages thinking it’s something about real hot air balloons, and got really intrigued.

    I need sleep.

Didn’t you get the memo? Everyone over the age of 18 HAS to make sure that random strangers on the internet KNOW just how totally absolutely mature and all-grown-up we are by constantly proving that we only like adult-approved stuff like smoking, drinking and getting migraines. Having fun is absolutely forbidden!

…joke aside: it’s equal parts funny and sad how some people never really grow out of the “I need approval from others to know what I’m allowed to like” phase and assume that this applies to everyone else as well, as if a grown ass person would still need some sort of permission to enjoy their hobbies.

PS: 37 here, so … almost 40 as well. I’ll unapologetically play any videogame I like until I drop dead or go blind.
